Password keeper
Like most computer users, you need to store all passwords in secure and safe place. My Password Generator is password protection software that provides an easy way to keep passwords and associated information (username, login, website url) in a safe and secure way. You can use 'Password keeper' feature to store passwords you created yourself or generated using My Password Generator. With 'Password Keeper' you will never lose your passwords.
My Password Generator protects your passwords, logins and associated web sites from others - all information can be encrypted using AES 256-bit key encryption. AES encryption (256-bit key) protects your passwords from unauthorized access.

Add password to Password Keeper
Modify password record
Delete password record
Stored passwords encryption
Lock stored passwords (dismount passwords database)
Unlock stored passwords (mount passwords database)
Export passwords database
Import passwords database
Add password to Password Keeper
To add password to "Stored passwords" list:
Double-click on My Password Generator desktop icon.
Click 'Tools' button and select 'Password Keeper'.
Click 'Add' button.

Enter password:
you may generate password using My Password Generator or enter password manually
enter information that is associated with your password - name/login and url. |
Note: Using 'Go' button you can easily access necessary web page.

Click 'OK'.
Modify password record in 'Password Keeper'
To modify password or associated information:
Double-click on My Password Generator desktop icon.
Click 'Tools' button and select 'Password Keeper'.
Select the record you want to modify and click 'Modify' button.

Make necessary changes.
Click 'OK'.
Delete password from 'Password Keeper'
To delete password from Password Keeper:
Double-click on My Password Generator desktop icon.
Click 'Tools' button and select 'Password Keeper'.
Select the record you want to delete and click 'Delete' button.
Click 'Yes' if you really want to delete selected password.
Lock stored passwords
If you use 'Stored passwords encryption (AES/Rijndael 256-bit key encryption)' feature, you can lock (dismount)/unlock (mount) stored passwords database using 'Lock'/'Unlock' in program toolbar and tray menu.
To lock (dismount) stored passwords database, double-click on My Password Generator desktop icon and click 'Lock' button in the toolbar or right-click My Password Generator tray icon and select Lock item. |
Note:
- to use 'Lock' feature you should turn 'Stored passwords encryption (AES/Rijndael 256-bit key encryption)' option on.
- if 'Stored passwords encryption (AES/Rijndael 256-bit key encryption)' option is on, your passwords database is locked every time you exit the program and you have to unlock (mount) passwords database when you run the program.

Unlock stored passwords
- To unlock (mount) stored passwords database, double-click on My Password Generator desktop icon and click 'Unlock' button in the toolbar or right-click My Password Generator tray icon and select Unlock item.
Export passwords database
If you have My Password Generator 2.0 or higher version, you can easily export passwords database:
Double-click on My Password Generator desktop icon.
Click 'Tools' button and select 'Import/Export'.

Click 'Export' button and select where you want to save your passwords database.
Click 'Save' button. |
Note:
- If your passwords are locked, you need to unlock them before exporting
- Passwords database is exported in non-encrypted form.

Import passwords database
To import your passwords database (that was exported from My Password Generator v. 2.0 or higher version):
Double-click on My Password Generator desktop icon.
Click 'Tools' button and select 'Import/Export'.

Click 'Import' button.
Select the file with passwords database you want to import.
From 'Files of type' drop down list select 'MyPasswordGenerator v.2.0 and higher (*.dat)" or "MyPasswordGenerator v.2.0 and higher (*.*)'.

Click 'Open'. |
Note:
1. If you get message "File format doesn't match selected program version", it means that the file you want to import doesn't match My Password Generator version you selected from "Files of type" drop down list. Make sure you select the correct file and My Password Generator version.
2. Also you can easily import passwords database that was exported from Encryption And Decryption Pro v.1.3 or higher version.

To import your passwords database (from My Password Generator v. 1.0 - 1.5) if you don't use "Stored passwords encryption" option now:
If you have My Password Generator from v.1.0 to v.1.5, want to install My Password Generator 2.0 or higher and want to move your existing passwords to the new version:
Exit the program - select Exit from the program tray menu or click 'Exit' button in program toolbar (not just close main window).
Copy file with passwords database to another directory.
Passwords database file is usually stored in the directory My Password Generator is installed in (by default C:\Program Files\MyPasswordGenerator\)
For versions 1.0 - 1.5 passwords database is stored in forms.dat
Uninstall your version of My Password Generator and install the new version.
Double-click on My Password Generator desktop icon.
Click 'Tools' button and select 'Import/Export'.

Click 'Import' button.
Select the file with passwords database you want to import.
From 'Files of type' drop down list select 'MyPasswordGenerator v.1.0 - 1.5 (*.dat)'.

Click 'Open'.

Note:

Decrypt your passwords database - open My Password generator 'Settings' window and remove the checkmark for 'Stored Passwords Encryption' option and click 'Apply' button.

Copy file with passwords database to another directory.
Passwords database file is usually stored in the directory My Password Generator is installed in (by default C:\Program Files\MyPasswordGenerator\ )
